British Malts and Grains

The Maris Otter Malt variety from England is highly regarded around the world as the best ale malt for its consistently flavorful character. It lends a deeper golden color and a fuller, slightly nutty character not found in modern pale malt varieties. This low protein and highly modified malt is considered the ideal by expert ale-brewers and is also particularly forgiving for home brewers during mashing. Maris Otter malt is not only suited to English-style ales but other European and American ales and even some lager styles.

Sekado Bohemian Pilsen Malt from the Czech Republic produces a fuller body and flavor compared to standard pilsner malts. It imparts a golden color and complex maltiness.

Crisp Brown malt is a roasted specialty barley malt with a strong, dark-toasted flavor with notes of nuts and bitter chocolate. Brown malt imparts a dark amber to light brown color and is used in many English ale styles including traditional porters.

Muntons Pale Malt is composed of well-modified English-grown barley that has a straw color and a pleasant, mildly sweet flavor. It is an ideal malt for nearly any ale style and more. 

Crisp amber malt is a kilned specialty malt with a strong flavor of biscuits and toasted grain and an amber-to-copper color. It is traditionally used in medium to dark English brown ales, mild ales and old ales. It has a dry flavor and is an excellent compliment to more bitter styles such as IPA's.

Peat-smoked malt has an intensely unique smoky flavor like that found in some Scotch whiskey. It can be used in varying amounts to achieve the desired level of smoky character or blended with other smoked malts to create a smoother smoke character.
