  • Gently stir entire contents of package A1 Kieselsol into beer, wine or cider after fermentation is complete. Wait minimum of 1 hour prior to adding package A2 Chitosan. Add package of A2 Chitosan 1 hour after Kieselsol has been added. Gently stir Chitosan into wine, beer or cider for 30 seconds and reattach bung and airlock. Allow to clear completely. Clears brilliantly in 24 - 48 hours.

It has the ability to absorb and attract protein materials that cause cloudiness as it precipitates out of solution.   • - Mix 2.5 tsp (12mL) in 2.5 cups (600mL) of hot water. Wait 24 hours and add to 5 US gallons (18.9L) of wine.
    - It is important to mix the Bentonite solution thoroughly but gently in order to not agitate the wine.
    - The wine can be stirred several times after adding the Bentonite solution to achieve maximum effect before it completely settles out of the wine.
    - The effect of the Bentonite can be improved when the wine is chilled to 45F (7C).
    - Bentonite does not clarify wines that are cloudy as a result of bacterial contamination or causes other than excessive protein.

  • A vinometer provides a quick measurement of alcohol in finished wine. Simply place a few drops in the tube and read its alcohol content on the scale. It is designed to measure dry wines with an alcohol content between 0% and 25%. Stronger wines can be tested by diluting the sample by 1/2 and then multiplying the result by 2. Sweeter wines with residual sugar can also be tested using the dilution method but will provide approximate results. The clear glass and white background is ideal for testing rosé and red wines (lighter-colored wines will be more difficult to read).
