Citric acid also prevents oxidation, inhibits bacterial growth and can be used in white wines to retain a light color. Hallertauer Magnum hop pellets deliver a smooth, clean bitterness with a high alpha acid for a dry, firm character. It has a soft floral and fruity aroma and is ideally suited for German-style Pilsners, Pales Ales, India Pale Ales and more.
The Magnum variety was bred in 1980 at the Hop Research Center in Hüll and registered in 1993. It is a daughter of Galena and the German male #75/5/3 and was bred for its high alpha acid and yield performance. Despite its predominant use as a bittering hop, Magnum has a refined fresh flower and fruity aroma when used as a finishing hop.

Briess GoldPils Vienna malt is a flavorful 2-row specialty base malt with a complex flavor and toasted finish. It contributes a golden color, fuller body and an exceptionally clean finish. GoldPils Vienna malt is less modified than pale ale malt and is less intensely kilned than Munich malt. As a result, it delivers a malty flavor with less sweetness than pale ale malt and less color than Munich malt. It has sufficient enzymatic power to include other specialty malts without extending the brewing cycle. This is the perfect malt for classic styles such as Vienna, Oktoberfest and Marzen beers but is also ideal for bock beer, low gravity beers, dark beers and Belgian-style beers.
